![]() Creation: lets you create a new fighter using unlocked fighting styles.Legendary Souls: an extra hard Arcade mode unlocked by completing the Story. ![]() Also include a Battle Theater mode where you can watch CPU vs CPS fights. Or you can save it to level two & unleashed a devastating Critical Edge attack, which can take out one-third of your opponent’s health. The gauge has two levels: after the first level, you can use it to unleash a Brave Edge attack, which is basically a suped-up special attack. This meter, visible beside the health bar, slowly fills throughout the match with each strike, block & hit. The most important one is the Critical Gauge. Keep your chainmail bikinis.Īlthough the fighting mechanics are more or less the same as in previous titles, there have been a few new features added. The story follows Patroklos as he tries to save his sister Pyrrha, who was kidnapped by Tira when she was a child in order to become a vessel for Soul Edge. The Story Mode takes a break from other fighting games by, instead of having a loose story for each character in the game, primarily following Patroklos, Sophitia’s son. Seventeen years after these events, the world is being overrun with the Malfested, former humans who have been tainted by Soul Edge. Siegfried defeated Nightmare, but Soul Edge disappeared. It’s always hard to follow the plot in fighting games from one version to the next, but SCV is kind enough to offer an opening cutscene to let us know the canon ending from the previous game. Ezio’s the only likable character on this cover At this point I’ve completed the Story Mode, created several original fighters which I have used for the Arcade, Quick Battle & Online matches. But after having spent a bit of time in all of the various game modes (except online ranked matched) I feel that I have a good understanding of what Soul Calibur V has to offer fighting fans. After all, it’s not a genre of game that you ever really finish. 4 was my least favorite. It’s difficulty to decide when you’re qualified to review a fighting game. My favorite game of all time is between Soul Calibur 2 & Soul Calibur 3. ![]() *sigh*īut this game could have been worse. I don't know, the story is a hit or a miss and for me, it missed a lot. I wanted to know what was up with Natsu, Leixia, Xiba, and Maxi but they were only in the story once and it wasn't even that long enough to learn anything about them. The story in my opinion felt rushed and short and full of cliches' and overdone anime stereotypes (I'm not a big anime fan anymore so yeah.) I was especially aggrivated that they didn't give the other characters a story. ![]() I never cared much for the Alexandra family after Soul Calibur 3. = /Īs for story, I really didn't like it. But they really need to work on the malfunction and glitches some of the clothes have. I hope they add in a deep face editor in the next Soul Calibur game. I mean, they now let you add patterns, scars, etc to your character and their clothing so it feels like your characters don't look bland in comparison to the original cast. I love how they made it more diverse then SCIV. The thing that keeps me hooked on the game is the Character Creation. It sucks that they didn't include Time Attack, Survival, Museum (Character Profiles, Artwork, etc.), or even Chronicles of the Sword (Sequel to the first one in SCIII). The single player modes are kind of boring and mundane after awhile. However, it really is a disappointment that Project Soul got rushed because it shows a lot in this game. I really like this one a lot more then Soul Calibur IV. ![]()
